Hinttala is a charming museum area located in the city center of Nokia. The museum showcases the local life and culture in the 19th century and during the summer season is offering guided tours to share stories of the local history. Throughout the summer, Hinttala hosts a variety of open-to-all and mostly free events such as concerts, workshops, family activities, literature events and guided tours.

The exhibition of “The Foods of the past” presents the iconic dishes in Finnish food history and is located in the main farm house. The exhibition “Luhti – Perspectives on Time” features a timeline of historical events from the lens of Hinttala estate, the village of Kankaantaka and the area now known as Nokia.

In the artisan shops, visitors can find artwork, home textiles and other unique souvenirs. During summer and around Christmas time the charming café in the Pytinki building is open for visitors. It is serving sweet and savory treats with outdoor seating area open during the summer.

Hinttala is accessible by public transportation operated by Tampere region. The nearest bus stop “Nokian Kirkko” is near the museum entrance.

Guided tours: Outside the summer season groups – including kindergartens and schools – one can book guided tours from the City of Nokia’s cultural services.

Parking: Free parking is available along Yrjönkatu directly opposite Hinttala, parking time is limited to 3 h.

Accessibility: The area is not fully accessible. The yard of the museum can be reached via soft gravel path. The terrain is uneven and the buildings have high doorsteps and stairs. The interior spaces are small. The Pytinki café has a ramp for strollers and wheelchairs but the interior has high doorsteps. An accessible toilet is available on-site.
