Maatialanharju

East of Nokia’s city centre, on the shore of Lake Vihnusjärvi, lies Maatialanharju. The marked nature trail is about five kilometres long and climbs up onto the ridge from the Kennonnokka parking area.
The ridge rises steeply, up to 40 metres above the lake. The trail is mostly easy to walk, especially along the ridge top, though the lakeside sections can be rocky and root-covered in places. The forest is mainly pine and spruce, but Maatialanharju is also famous for its dry meadow plants and, in particular, its species of meadow fungi.
On the eastern side of the ridge, the trail passes First World War–era trenches, offering a glimpse into history along the route.
