Virta – Library and Culture Center

The Library and Culture Center Virta is the vibrant heart of the Nokia city center – an urban living room shared by the community. This communal space offers an open and peaceful environment for everyone to enjoy. Virta opened its doors in 2020 and the striking building was designed by architect Pekka Koli from Tilatakomo architectural office. The bright versatile interiors designed by Hanna-Marie Nukkarinen invite visitors to feel like at home. The Library and Culture Center Virta is an accessible building.
The city main library is part of Virta, offering access to a collection of 90 000 items and comprehensive library services. In addition to the library services, Virta invites visitors to explore the history of Nokia, attend art exhibitions and enjoy various events. The permanent collection showcases the city’s industrial past and highlights from Matti and Sirkka-Liisa Helin art collection. Rotating exhibitions are displayed year-round in the Raami Art Space and on the pop-up wall on the third floor. Virta Library and Culture Center offers rentable meeting and event spaces.
